The Absolute Basics of Developing SSAS Multidimensional and Tabular Data Models

This presentation will provide a basic introduction to the value of both SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) data models, multidimensional and tabular, and show the basics of developing both. The presentation will also involve an introduction to Microsoft’s “Business Intelligence Semantic Model” or “BISM”, and a feature comparison of both data models including when to develop one over the other. Demonstrations of the basics required to build both data models as well as relevant terminology will be introduced as well as ten great resources that will assist someone learning and developing SSAS data models.

About the Presenter:

George has been in the I.T. industry for over thirty years and has been a professional trainer for twenty five years, a Microsoft Certified Trainer since 1997. He has worked with and certified in every version of SQL Server since SQL Server 2000 along with a number of other industry certifications. He is very enthusiastic about Microsoft SQL Server, Power BI, and business intelligence.
